During International Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Heidelberg University Hospital, the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) Heidelberg, and the Bergstraße Breast Center are sending a visible message of solidarity. Under the motto “PINKTOBER – Together against breast cancer!”, Heidelberg Castle and Starkenburg Castle in Heppenheim are lit up in pink, sending a message of hope that can be seen from far and wide.
The illumination is accompanied by a varied program: free information events in Heidelberg and Heppenheim, a benefit concert at the Amtshof Heppenheim, an exhibition by the buusenkollektiv, a painting competition in schools and special events such as the home game of the MLP Academics Heidelberg in specially designed jerseys.
The aim of all activities is to raise awareness of breast cancer, highlight the importance of early detection, and empower those affected. Pink stands for visibility, knowledge, and solidarity.
