Help that makes a difference
With your donation, you enable direct support where it is most urgently needed—whether in medical projects, social institutions, or emergency aid. Every donation contributes to providing concrete help.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women. About one in eight women will be affected during her lifetime. When detected early, chances of recovery are good – making education, prevention, and solidarity all the more important.
In October – the international Breast Cancer Awareness Month known as Pinktober – Heidelberg University Hospital (UKHD), the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) Heidelberg, and the Breast Center Bergstraße (BZB) at Bergstraße District Hospital join forces under the symbolic patronage of Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden, visibly taking a stand against breast cancer. The goal is to raise awareness, highlight the importance of early detection, and provide direct support for affected patients.
A highly visible symbol of this campaign is the illumination of Heidelberg Castle and Starkenburg Castle in Heppenheim: both landmarks shine bright pink throughout October as a sign of solidarity with breast cancer patients.
The campaign is accompanied by a wide range of activities: information events, an exhibition, a benefit concert, a student art competition, and a special highlight on October 25th, when MLP Academics Heidelberg will take to the basketball court in specially designed jerseys – sending a powerful athletic message for education and social engagement.

Creating lasting change
Donations not only have a short-term impact, but also help to promote long-term projects. This enables sustainable structures to be established and future prospects to be created for many people.
Show solidarity
A donation is a powerful sign of community. It shows that no one is alone. By supporting others, you give hope and confidence to people in difficult situations.
Take responsibility
Donating means taking action and assuming responsibility for society. Every contribution, whether large or small, helps to make the world a little bit fairer and more humane.
At the launch of the Pinktober campaign, numerous employees and supporters sent out a strong message: together they formed a human Pink Ribbon – the worldwide symbol of solidarity in the fight against breast cancer.
Captured from the air by impressive drone footage, the event became a special moment of community and visibility.
The photos and videos of this action vividly demonstrate how many people got involved – and how they inspired courage to stand together for greater awareness, prevention, and support.
